SAM: If you accept, this ring will symbolize my promise to you to be true. To never pressure you to do anything more than kiss. To listen to your problems. To tell you when you have food in your teeth or eye gunk. To come over to your house whenever you need something super heavy moved around. I promise to make you feel proud when you point down the hall and say, ‘That dude’s my boyfriend.’ I promise to do all of those things… without ever trying to sound like Matthew McConaughey. I really care about you, Quinn, and I want us to be together.
:) Because this blog needs more sappy quotes.
The day started off with Pa waking me up early to go to Devi's Corner. To be honest, a good breakfast is
always a good mamak accompanied with an iced Milo. Please don't stab me, dim sum enthusiasts. Came back from Bangsar and took a shut-eye till it's time for baking!
Mommy grated five whole pineapples yesterday. The family decided to make a whole big batch of pineapple tarts to usher in the new year! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of pineapple tarts. I prefer eating the tarts just by itself and chuck the pineapple chunk aside. But for these batch of goodies, I have to make an exception. :)
| Grated cooked pineapple! |
| Roll the jam into cute balls. |
| They're taking over the kitchen! Bounce! |
| Instruments of torture. |
| Brush egg yolk on the top of the pineapple tarts before they go into the oven! I love brushing the yolk. Brush brush. |
| Ahoy! |
| All golden and fresh from the oven. :) |
They are amazing. Usually the store bought pineapple tarts are so dry and leaves an awful after-taste in your mouth. But these homemade tarts melt in your mouth so perfectly. Plus, the whole tart and jam really complete the package. YUMMY :) I hardly contributed much, to be honest. All I did was recook the pineapple, brush the egg yolk and play 'swap the baking tray' with the oven.
| All sealed up with paper dollies! |
| We made a grand total of 230++ pineapple tarts. Which took about.. five to six hours. Woah, to infinity and beyond! |
Also happening concurrently with the pineapple tarts was the making of a chocolate bundt cake!
| Flour mixture was really runny and wet but it bakes up like a dream. |
| Smother chocolate icing on it. |
| I was a bit disappointed on how it turned out to look like a big-ass donut instead of a bundt. Oh wells. Let's dig in! |
| Whoops, weird camera lighting. CLUBBING CAKE! :D |
| Chomp chomp. Hands down.. Best 'big-ass donut' chocolate cake ever! :) |

So, Thaipusam was a holiday not wasted. I have to say baking is so exhausting. It leaves your face feeling warm from the heat of the oven and your legs to be hurting and aching from standing up too long. Boy, it was worth it.
And for tomorrow, a Martha Stewart 'Healthy' Lemony Angel Food Cake! Recipe seems a bit difficult and not something I am used to. It would be a good challenge. ;)
